5 Plugin Per Gimp
One of the most useful features of GIMP is its support for a wide range of plugins. Plugins are small pieces of software that work from within GIMP to add new tools, editing options, and even more capabilities like RAW image processing for high-end digital SLR cameras.
5 plugin per Gimp
While these two plugins are both standalone programs in their own right, many pro photography editing workflows use a combination of a non-destructive RAW image processor (like Adobe Lightroom or CaptureOne) and a layer-based pixel editor like Photoshop or GIMP.
Once RT is installed, opening a RAW image file through GIMP will automatically launch the RT plugin. Make as many adjustments to the RAW file as you want, and then simply close the window. Your developed photo will then open automatically in GIMP, ready for the final touches.
Resynthesizer is one of the most impressive GIMP plugins available, allowing you to easily remove objects from your image. Resynthesizer takes a guess at what should be in the new section of the image and fills the pixels based on the surrounding content, colors, and patterns.
One of the biggest issues holding GIMP back from being a serious contender in the world of professional image editing is its lack of support for images designed for print, which use the CMYK colorspace. Cyan is a standalone conversion program, but it also works as a plugin.
In GIMP, open the Preferences window, and scroll down the left pane until you see the Folders option. Click the small + to expand it, and click Plug-ins. The right pane will update display all the folder locations that GIMP searches for plugin files during startup.
One of the main benefits of the free photo editor GIMP is that it can have additional features added to it by installing third-party plugins. But what plugins are worth the installation in terms of being useful, practical, safe, and user-friendly?
For all your retouching needs, the Wavelet Decompose plugin for GIMP is one of the most useful and must-have utility. All it does is give you the ability to retouch an image and perform actions like smoothing skin, removing blemishes, wrinkles, or even spots, and adjusting other basic image enhancement functionalities like sharpening and contrast tweaking. To achieve this, the tool works by breaking down an image into different layers. What this means is that the finer and more prominent details go on the first layer, and the rest follow along down to the last layer, called the residual layer, which holds the details that are left behind after all layers have been extracted.
Hugin is another must-have GIMP plugin for your photoshop needs, especially if you work with panoramas. The tool is based on Panorama Tools, and it helps you stick together multiple images to create a panorama image. Unlike some of the other solutions that promise a similar functionality, what separates Hugin from the rest is that the service claims that it can stitch and combine multiple images irrespective of the orientation. And that, it only requires the user to have at least 20-30% overlap between the captures for best results. Moreover, you also get control over certain aspects of the stitching process to get the results as per your requirements.
Step 5: Time to compile BIMP. Run one of the following commands. The first command adds the plugin to all users of your PC who can run BIMP. If you want it for the current login, use the second command instead.
Step 5: Since the source is not compiled, we must compile it to install. Use one of the following two commands. The first command adds the plugin to all users of your PC who can run BIMP. If you want it for the current login, use the second command instead.

Professional image editing always done in layers. This GIMP plugin allows you to play with layers just like Photoshop. You can make different layers for applying multiple changes or can even make a group of them. It makes copy, cut & moving layers very simple and easy.
If you have used Photoshop or heard about Content Aware Fill, you will easily understand what is plugin used for. Resynthesizer used to remove unwanted object from images, better texture control, repeating textures, transfer texture from one image to another, image healing, etc. If you are into professional photo editing, this GIMP plugin can give your works a new touch.
UFRaw GIMP plugin is very useful for professional photographers. It makes editing RAW images possible in GIMP. You can various image corrections like exposure control, colour adjustment, temperature setting, etc. If you have photos in bulk, just use its Batch Workflow mode to edit multiple photos at once.
Correcting blurred images is no more difficult for GIMP users. Refocus attempts to correct the blurred image by enabling you to adjust certain parameters. I used this plugin to fix some blurred images and can say, it gives satisfactory results in most of the cases.
Adding arrows to images is one of the most common things in image editing. But if your hands are not steady, you will face a lot of trouble. Draw Arrow is one of the most useful GIMP plugins that makes drawing arrows quite simple and easy for everyone.
Watermark has become necessary nowadays. People always want to use your graphics without giving any credit, and this is something I seriously hate. This plugin allows you to add text watermarks quite easily. You can also use the second plugin in case you want to add an Image Watermark.
There are many popular online and offline tools to make panoramic images, but if you are a GIMP user, this plugin is for you. Unlike other Panorama plugins, it comes with all the essential features that are required to make a beautiful Panorama image. You can merge multiple images, correct colours, blend and even perform distortion seamlessly.
Nik Collection was once one of the most popular professional photo editing programs. But with time and release of several similar plugins, it failed to provide regular updates and lost its popularity. But if you ask me, I still find it quite useful for many purposes. Overall, Nik Collection has many useful features like noise reduction, HDR effects, image sharpening, filters, etc. You can download it from the link below and try it out.
Save For Web is one of the most popular and useful GIMP plugins. After installation, you will find it under File Menu. Just select the settings and it will scale, crop or compress images before uploading them to your website. Save for Web was once a part of FX Foundry, but later it launched as a separate product. If you are a blogger, a web designer, a graphics designer or anyone who prepare images, this GIMP plugin is definitely for you.
Using gimp, cannot get to open DNG or PEF files, since I cannot figure how to load plugin for UFraw.Did load UFraw stand alone and can see my DNG files...not a very good interface.Could use simple instructions on how to get GIMP to process DNG.
You cannot "open DNG or PEF" files with Gimp any more than you can with Photoshop. Both are pixel editors. Both rely on either standalone raw converters or plugins to do so (UFRaw for Gimp, ACR for Photoshop).
You did not mention which OS you use but I am aware that the maintainer of UFRaw, Udi Fuchs doesn't have much sympathy for Windows and allows Windows users to generate their own executables. I am also aware that the status of the plugin under Windows is rather shaky the last year. On Linux it performs just fine.
BIMP goes a step further (Figure 10). Apart from the usual tools, the plugin allows you to use your favorite GIMP functions and apply them to the loaded images, with the desired parameters set in advance. (See the "Installing BIMP" box for installation details.)
RAW images are easily managed by GIMP with the UFRaw plugin. For large numbers of images, however, using UFRaw on each one is a cumbersome process, because each image must first be loaded manually with the desired settings made in advance. Thus, a special version of the program, ufraw-batch, is available on the command line to work on any number of RAW images automatically.
An important aspect of image processing is (mathematical) transformation known as Fourier transformation (Figure 11), without which many further procedures wouldn't be possible. You can apply Fourier transformation explicitly with the Fourier plugin . The plugin provides two functions (under Filter Generic): Fourier Forward converts the current layer or selection into its Fourier representation, with which you can perform the desired editing. For example, you can introduce a copyright symbol that "survives" any scaling, rotating, or cropping. Fourier Inverse reverts to the visible RGB image that should hardly differ from the original.
